I first read about phreaking in the Hacker's Handbook in the mid-80's but I wasn't aware of Engressia or the fact that many phreaks were blind. It puts today's internet mayhem into perspective - cyberspace was happening in 1971 way before William Gibson invented the word... Absolutely fascinating stuff.
